What's Happening at The Creek at Foothill?
All Year Long
The Creek Students will be making bag lunches and deliver them once a month throughout the year for Trinity Center in Walnut Creek. Trinity Center is an amazing community program that serves people who are homeless and those experiencing poverty in Contra Costa County.
The year is off to a fun start. The students and staff are spending a lot of time getting to know one another! We have been playing a variety of group games: Kick the Can, Capture the Flag, Big Happy Family, and Movie Trivia!
We also have welcomed three new staff members: Daniel, Jade, and Devon!
The kids have already walked to yogurt station, at Encina Shopping Center, with our staff. This is a Friday field trip we always look forward to.
Our math tutor, Ms Carella, is working on Tuesdays and Wednesdays with the students.
The Halloween Carnival was a huge success! The kids enjoyed wrapping each other up as mummies , playing ghost bowling and pin the bow time on the Mr. Bones!
Community Service The students will start making bag lunches for Trinity Center in Walnut Creek. This is a program that offers support services to the homeless in our area. The Creek provides these lunches monthly.
Crafts: The students made a variety of Halloween crafts : Ghost and bat decorations, Face masks, Halloween signs, and even had a pumpkin painting contest.
Cooking groups : The students have the opportunity to sign up for weekly cooking groups. Our first cooking group made mini pot pies . Pumpkin bread, sugar skulls, dirt cups , and mummy pretzels were among the other favorite cooking projects!
Crafts: Flip books and paper Thanksgiving pumpkins were some of the favorites in November.
Community Service : The students made lunches again for Trinity Center and made beautiful burlap placemats with Fall prints for meals on wheels.
Cooking and indoor games are in full swing. Some of the favorite games were Big Happy Family and Karaoke!!!
Crafts: December is always a busy month for crafts: The students wil be making Snowflakes. tea light snowman, Popsicle stick snowfalkes, Puffball Snowmen, and the old time favorite Gingerbread Houses!
This year for the first time, the students are making stationary kits for the teens at Children's Hospital in Oakland.
The students also helped deliver bag lunches to Trintiy Center for the holidays.
